Terms of service

1. Agreement and scope

These terms govern access to resumetailor.chat and the resume-tailoring features available through it. "ResumeTailor", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the service. By creating an account, buying a plan or credit pack, or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Our Privacy notice describes how we handle personal information. Accepting these terms does not replace any separate consent required for a particular use of that information.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in method secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.

Keep control of the Google or GitHub account you use to sign in. Do not give another person access to your ResumeTailor account or allow them to spend your credits. If you believe a run or purchase was unauthorised, contact support with the relevant account and transaction details.

3. The service

ResumeTailor uses AI models to draft, review, revise, and format resumes using the information and instructions you provide. Available models, templates, features, and usage limits may change as the service develops.

We try to keep the service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access or that every run or export will complete successfully. Maintenance, provider outages, safety controls, or technical limits may delay or interrupt the service.

Choose a plan based on the features available when you buy it. Announcements about future models or templates are not commitments to deliver them on a particular date.

4. Your content and permission to process it

You keep ownership of the resumes, job descriptions, instructions, and other content you submit. You give ResumeTailor permission to host, copy, process, transmit, modify, and render that content only as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the service.

You must have the right to submit the content you provide. Do not upload confidential, sensitive, unlawful, or third-party information unless you are authorised to use it for this purpose.

This permission covers the steps needed for a tailoring workflow, including sending relevant content to AI providers, saving drafts and reviews, and creating downloadable documents. It does not transfer ownership of your content to ResumeTailor or permit us to publish your resume as a testimonial.

5. AI output and your responsibility to review it

AI-generated material can be inaccurate, incomplete, repetitive, or unsuitable for a particular application. You must review every resume and export before using it. You are responsible for the accuracy of claims submitted to an employer.

ResumeTailor does not guarantee interviews, employment, applicant-tracking-system rankings, or any other hiring outcome. The service does not provide legal, immigration, financial, or professional recruitment advice.

You may download and use generated resumes for your applications. Review names, dates, qualifications, achievements, and formatting before submission. Model output may resemble material produced for someone else, and we do not promise that every generated phrase is unique or eligible for intellectual-property protection.

6. Plans, credits, and payment

Review the plan description and checkout before purchasing. The displayed price, billing period, included credits, and applicable usage limits form part of your purchase. Credit consumption depends on the work performed, including the models and revision steps used. The service shows your current balance and usage in your account.

Polar is the merchant of record and authorised reseller for purchases. Polar and its payment providers process payment details, taxes, invoices, subscriptions, cancellations, and refunds. A purchase is also subject to Polar's Buyer Terms. ResumeTailor does not store your full payment-card details.

Subscriptions renew at the price and frequency shown at checkout until cancelled. You can cancel through the customer portal. Cancellation normally takes effect at the next billing cycle. Refunds are handled under Polar's terms, the policy shown at checkout, and applicable law. Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot legally be waived.

Deleting your account and cancelling your subscription are separate actions. Cancel through the customer portal before the next renewal if you want recurring charges to stop. If a payment succeeds but your plan or credits do not update, contact support with the order reference so we can investigate.

Any statutory cancellation or withdrawal rights remain available where they apply. These terms alone do not waive those rights. Any required request for immediate performance or acknowledgement of a loss of withdrawal rights must be obtained through the applicable purchase process.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use ResumeTailor to:

• break the law or violate another person's rights;
• submit content you do not have permission to use;
• misrepresent your identity, experience, qualifications, or achievements;
• probe, disrupt, overload, or bypass the service's security or usage controls;
• access another user's resumes, workflow records, or billing information;
• share, resell, or automate access to an account without permission; or
• use the service to distribute malware, spam, or deceptive material.

8. Suspension and termination

You may stop using ResumeTailor at any time. You remain responsible for cancelling an active subscription through the customer portal. You may request account deletion by emailing support@resumetailor.chat.

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address non-payment, security risks, abuse, unlawful activity, or a serious breach of these terms. Where practical, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to correct the problem.

Download documents you need before closing your account. Deletion requests are handled as described in the Privacy notice. Closing an account does not remove outstanding payment obligations or provisions that need to continue, such as ownership and liability.

9. Ownership and licence to use ResumeTailor

ResumeTailor and its licensors own the service's software, design, branding, templates, and other materials, excluding your content. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while you comply with them.

Using a template in an exported resume does not give you ownership of the template library, software, or brand. Third-party and open-source software remain subject to their own licences.

10. External services

Sign-in, AI processing, payments, and document delivery depend on external services. Their outages or changes can affect ResumeTailor. External sites you visit have their own terms; linking to them is not an endorsement.

11. Feedback and rights complaints

We may use suggestions about the product without payment. Resume revision instructions and private document content remain subject to the content and privacy provisions above.

To report content that infringes your rights, email support with a description of the work, the location of the disputed material, your contact details, and why you are entitled to make the complaint. We may request further details before taking action.

12. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, ResumeTailor is provided without warranties beyond those expressly stated in these terms. We are not responsible for hiring decisions, employer systems, third-party services, or losses caused by content you submit or use without reviewing.

To the extent permitted by law, ResumeTailor will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from the service. Our total liability for a claim relating to paid service will not exceed the amount you paid for ResumeTailor during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where applicable law does not allow them.

13. Changes to the service or these terms

We may change the service and these terms. We will post revised terms here and update the effective date. If a material change adversely affects you, we will give any additional notice required by law. Continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, without limiting consumer protections that apply in your country. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact support@resumetailor.chat so we can try to resolve the issue.

15. General provisions

If a provision cannot be enforced, the remainder still applies. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive it. A separate agreement signed with ResumeTailor takes priority where it expressly changes these terms.
